A Foggy Morning

Fog has a magical way of transforming even the dullest scenery into something mysterious, atmospheric and beautiful. And if it happens before sunrise, with that soft half-light, it’s even better.

Take this bus stop at 5:45 in the morning, for example. (Don’t even ask!)

I didn’t have my camera with me, so I had to make do with my phone. Fortunately, I shot it in Expert RAW mode, which means the phone doesn’t fiddle with the image. It simply saves the raw file straight from the sensor, and I do all the editing myself later on the computer.

Still, as handy as a smartphone is, I’d really been itching to photograph some proper fog with a real camera. And before long, the opportunity arrived.

One morning I dragged myself out of bed before the sun was up and found a delicious blanket of fog waiting outside my window. There was no way I was going back to sleep. I threw on some warm clothes, grabbed my camera, and headed out for a wander around the neighbourhood.
