Emerald Lake

To the east of Melbourne, quite close to the city, there are some low mountains called the Dandenongs (the Dandenong Ranges). Don’t confuse them with the suburb of Dandenong, which is in a completely different place—and unlike the hills, it’s known not for nice views but for its population from all sorts of exotic countries and a record level of crime.

So anyway, I wasn’t heading to Dandenong to look at interesting people from exotic countries, but to the Dandenongs to enjoy the scenery, the autumn colours, and to shoot a few video clips and photos.

One of the main tourist attractions in the Dandenong Ranges is the Puffing Billy steam train. I’ve already written about it in detail, so I’d recommend having a read of my old post. By the way, I got some pretty decent photos back then—have a look at the album too.

This time I went back to the same spot to film the train and the lake. While I was at it, I took a few photos as well:

If you want to see the full-size photos, there’s an album on Flickr:

And here’s the video. In the first one, Puffing Billy is going over the bridge. The weather was rainy, which I reckon made the shot even more interesting. Then I went to the final station and filmed the arrival of the same train.

The next video is about Emerald Lake. Actually, it’s officially called Treganowan, but since it’s next to the town of Emerald, no one really calls it anything else. By the way, the final station of Puffing Billy is located there.

I hope you enjoyed it!
