To save me repeating myself, have a read of this older post — this one’s a direct continuation of it.
In that post I mentioned it’d be great to come back and shoot a video of all this watery chaos. That idea never really left me — and in the meantime, I got myself a video camera. So one fine day I headed back to the beach at Harmers Haven and finally filmed some footage.
The easiest things to shoot were the shells. They crawl around in funny, random paths, or just spin on the spot. Some even climb up onto their neighbours and hitch a ride. You could watch this whole marine circus forever.
Then there are the tiny fish. They zip around at insane speed, and it’s hard to get a good look at them. But tech came to the rescue. I filmed one scene at 100 frames per second, so I could slow it down four times without losing quality.
Then there was the crab. The sneaky bastard had such sharp eyes and was so quick that the moment I got close, he shot under a rock and never came back out. Honestly, I get it. He knows how tasty he is, and he knows birds are fast too. So when anything approaches, he legs it straight away. I understand him — but I haven’t forgiven him! I wasn’t planning on eating him. Quite the opposite: I was offering him the starring role in my blockbuster. And he…
So the crab stayed off camera. When you’re watching, just remember there’s a crafty crab sitting somewhere in the background.

Чтобы мне не повторяться, почитайте вот этот старый пост, потому что теперешний – это его прямое продолжение.
Я в этом посте упоминал, чтобыло бы неплохо вернуться и снять видео всего этого водного балагана. Мысль эта меня не покинула, зато появилась видеокамера. Так что в один прекрасный день я вернулся на пляж в Хармерс Хэвен и снял таки видео.
Проще всего было снимать ракушки. Они потешно ползают странными маршрутами, или кружатся на месте. Некоторые так и вовсе забираются на соседей и ездят верхом. Наблюдать за всей этой морской катавасией можно бесконечно.
Затем есть рыбки. Они носятся с огромной скоростью, и разглядеть их сложно. Однако, на помошь пришла технология. Одну из сцен я снял со скоростью 100 кадров в секунду, так что смог замедлить движение в 4 раза без потери качества.
Затем был краб. Этот мерзавец был настолько зорок и быстр, что при моем приближении он мгновенно юркнул под камень, и так оттуда и не показался. Я краба понимаю. Он знает какой он вкусный, и знает что птицы тоже весьма быстры. Так что при приближении любого существа он мгновенно удирает. Понять-то я его понял, но не простил! Я же его есть не собирался. Я наоборот, приглашал его на главную роль в моем блокбастере. А он…
Так что краб остался за кадром. Когда будете смотреть, не забывайте, что где-то там за заднем плане сидит хитрый краб.
